”Scandinavian MAN comes alive during three intense days”

On Sunday, January 21, we will inaugurate the Scandinavian MAN Lounge at PROJECT New York, North America’s biggest fair for menswear. The Lounge is open for all visitors to the PROJECT and MRket shows. We asked editor-in-chief Konrad Olsson about this new concept.

Konrad, what is the Scandinavian MAN Lounge at PROJECT?

— You can say that Scandinavian MAN comes alive during three intense days, with panel talks, partner presentations, and a curated exhibition featuring some of the most exciting Nordic menswear brands. Everything presented to a highly influential audience. PROJECT attracts the most important buyers, editors, influencers, and decision makers from east coast America and beyond.

What will the visitors see during these days?

— Our partners Sand Copenhagen and Filippa K will display their upcoming AW18 collections. In our curated exhibition, we present some stunning photography from Scandinavian MAN Issue 1, and we display five exciting and up-and-coming menswear brands from Scandinavia: Norwegian Rain, CDLP, Project Twlv, Appletrees, and CQP.

Anything else going on?

— Every day at 11 am we will have a panel talk with influential personalities within global and Scandinavian menswear. On Sunday for example, the topic is ”Communicating to guys — how online and social media is changing menswear”. Panelists are Brian Trunzo, Senior Menswear Editor at WGSN, Jeremy Kirkland, founder of the Blamo! podcast, and the streetstyle photographer Guerre. The talks will be heard in our radio shows after the fair. I’m very excited about the talks.

This is the second time Scandinavian MAN touches down in New York, and the third time in the US, in just four months. Is there a love affair between Scandinavian MAN and the US?

— Haha, you could say that. Given what is happening in the US on the political scene, I think that there is a thirst for the values that we represent. Scandinavia is extremely strong when it comes to equality, sustainability, innovation, and a good quality of life. Needless to say, our style sensibility is also very sought after. All this makes Scandinavian MAN highly welcomed in the states.
