Rue De Tokyo’s oversized, almost sculptural coat is a statement piece in both shape and material choice
Yarn dyed and woven by Bonotto in Italy and manufactured to perfection.
The Copenhagen-based brand, founded by David Andersson Sahlin in 2016, features a natural elegance and timelessness. It’s inspired by his life in Paris, Florence and Copenhagen, uses organic materials and some of the world’s finest textiles and combines the aesthetics from two worlds.
— From Japan, we are inspired by an unrivalled attention to detail and quest for perfection, he says, continuing,
— From France, a commitment to craftsmanship and respect for the arts.
For FW19, one of his personal favourites is the Cody coat.
— It has a unique pocket system with two oversized patch pockets. The coat also features a yoke and a flap on the shoulder. It has an oversized and almost sculptural look and is a statement coat in both shape and material choice. The fabric is a 100% virgin wool which have been yarn dyed and woven by Bonotto in Italy and features buttons made of real horn. The manufacturing is made in to perfection in a factory which also produce for brands like Burberry and Max Mara, both very famous for their high-quality coats. It’s a signature piece in your wardrobe.
How would you wear it?
— I personally like to see when people wear it together with some very tight jeans and boots which gives a great contrast to the big and sculptural silhouette.
What else do you have coming?
— We are right now working on the new AW20 collection which will take us in to a very interesting direction where we for the first time start to experiment the universe of technical elements.
