Lager, lunch and laundry under the same roof
Keep double booking your laundry time with your beer dates? Sigh no more. Stockholm based beer store Bottle Shop’s new facility comes with a laundromat.
Bottle Shop, Sweden’s first low alcoholic beer store, is moving in to a bigger facility this coming spring. The current shop first opened its doors in 2016, and the number of guests and beer bottles have outgrown the cramped facility. When owners Fredrik Glejpner and Martin Jämtlid scouted the new premises they stumbled upon another problem – there was too much space.
– We found somewhat of a dead space with a lot of power outlets and water pipes and stuff. Then we realized that we hadn’t thought of a place to put our washing machines to wash staff clothes, and that’s where the idea came from. Why not put ‘laundry’ on the menu? Says co-founder Fredrik Glejpner.
How will it all work?
– We will have a so called laundry menu. If you order it, you will get a key to a cabinet filled with detergent and such. The menu consists of three different beers and a meal to eat.
– I think a lot of backpackers and tourists will use the washing machine! And also other locals with a busy schedule.
So the standard excuse ‘I have a laundry appointment’ will no longer work if someone wants to grab a beer.
– (Laughs) Exactly. I think it’s perfect if you call a friend and go ‘should we do laundry tonight?’ and that means having some beer and something to eat.
Bottle Shop are optimistic that their new facility (to be located right next door to their current shop on Kocksgatan 19 in Stockholm) will be ready in March.Fredrik GlejpnerMartin JämtlidBottle Shop
