Hyped brands Holzweiler and Kamo join interior store Paustian for a Fashion Week pop-up, exhibition and window installation in the heart of Copenhagen
Meet the Danish brand on everyone’s lips — or eyes — plus experience a special exhibition by spatial and furniture designer Ali Gallefoss, last shown at Dover Street Market Beijing.
The special installation by the Norwegian designer Gallefoss was first shown under Oslo’s latest creative umbrella for art and fashion, Fushion Oslo. Later it went to Paris Fashion Week before moving on to Dover Street Market in Beijing. This week, it will be exhibited in Copenhagen at Paustian during Copenhagen Fashion Week. The art work, The Elephant in the Room, is made of the very item that put Holzweiler on the map of fashion seven years ago — scarves. Through Gallefoss’ artistic vision he is showing deadstock recycled scarves from the Holzweiler repertoire in a new light and in a new form, embracing the brand’s dedication to recycling and upcycling.
— Furniture design is for me very static and controlled, I find myself being in this industry to challenge perfectionism and everything that's considered nice and comfortable. The art installation is a comment to the fashion industry. The sculpture represents the obvious issue of the over production in the fashion industry that most people know about, but no one seriously address because it is too difficult or demands too much from us, says Gallefoss.
Furthermore Holzweiler will introduce their very first Copenhagen pop-up at the much esteemed furniture destination, Paustian. Linked to the installation a shop will sell classic Holzweiler products all made from deadstock or leftover fabrics such as t-shirts, scarves, ponchos and hoodies.
At Paustian, Holzweiler is joined by a special window installation by Danish eyewear brand Kamo, who’s experienced a huge hype since launching less than two years ago. Their sunglasses has clad the faces of many celebrities, including Lebron James, MØ, Russel Westbrook, and Jonah Hill. This week, they preview their new, vintage-inspired Spring/Summer collection at Paustian, made of chunky acetate and light-weight metal.
Holzweiler’s pop-up runs from tomorrow, January 28, to Friday while Kamo’s window installation is on display from today until February 4. The store is located at Niels Hemmingsensgade 24.KAMOAli GallefossHolzweilerPaustian
