Eton’s long-sleeve piqué is based on the style of a classic casual polo shirt, but refined to a real luxury garment
The 90+ year old Swedish brand constantly pushes the boundaries for what a shirt can be. ”As a modern shirtmaker in this day and age we need to offer more than just fantastic business shirts”, says Creative Director Sebastian Dollinger.
Based in the south of Sweden, Eton always has quality at the very core of everything they do. But to them, it doesn’t stop there.
— While we are a heritage brand, we’re also a forward looking brand that constantly pushes the boundaries for what a shirt can be, says Dollinger. What some people may not know about us is that our designs are made in-house by our fantastic team of creative masterminds at our design office in Italy, as well as at our headquarters here in Sweden. We also have control over full supply chain — from the raw cotton fibers to the finished product. Every single detail of our shirts and accessories are overseen for a guaranteed result of the highest quality without any compromise.
Tell us about your key piece for this fall.
— Our long-sleeve piqué polo shirt is one of my absolute favourites. It’s based on the style of a classical casual polo shirt, but refined to a real luxury garment with features like the elegant button under collar and rounded cuffs — still to be worn casual, but you can absolutely pair it with a suit too.
What can you say about the fabrics?
— It’s made of a very exclusive piqué fabric, made of ELS (Extra Long Staple) cotton and highly durable. But foremost it’s extremely comfortable. It’s super soft, the open weave makes it very breathable, and it has a beautiful drapability. If you ask me, you should only wear the clothes that make you feel comfortable.
How would you wear it?
— As this is a very versatile shirt, you could either wear it with a pair of washed jeans as well as with a relaxed tailored suit. It looks great with a grenadine tie, or unbuttoned, says Dollinger.
Any other appealing pieces you have coming?
— An exciting drop later this fall is a four-pocket shirt-jacket. This is a good example of the way we, as a traditional shirt-maker, are challenging our own ideas of what the perfect shirt can be.EtonEton ShirtsSebastian Dollinger
