Brdr. Krüger launches new upholstery version of the award-winning ARV chair, designed by Studio David Thulstrup
Initially developed in collaboration with the acclaimed Noma restaurant, for the opening of the new location in 2018, it’s developed to offer alternative comfort, character and feel.
The fifth-generation Danish furniture company started life in 1886 as a wood-turning workshop founded by brothers Theodor and Ferdinand Krüger. Today the company has evolved into a progressive self-producing furniture brand both celebrating classic Danish design values and embracing modernity.
ARV is the Danish word for heritage and the chair’s aestethic is classic and timeless, yet contemporary. Designer David Thulstrup and Brdr. Krüger has collaborated closely on evolving the design, to make it elegant and light and drawing on traditional Danish design but with a fresh energy and the spirit of a new generation of form.
— It was important for me, to stay in line with the initial proportions of design, that is characterized by its lean elegant lines, drawing references to the past, yet still pointing forward. The new edition is a natural extension to the ARV collection, says Thulstrup.
The ARV chair has a certain understated formality and is angled somewhere between a dining and desk chair, achieving the utmost in comfort and working just as well for engaging dinners as meetings and gatherings.
— We wanted to add an extra layer to the qualities and characteristics of this beautiful piece, by introducing alternative materials with softness and at the same time offering a wider spectrum of styles, says Jonas Krüger, Creative Director of Brdr.
