Always on the ride

With the bicycle boom continuing and more and more people realizing that riding a bike is the best way to take you around the city, this custom-made bike brand celebrating their ten first years by expanding to European key markets.

BIKEID was founded by 3 friends, all with different backgrounds. It consists of a copywriter/designer, a former lawyer (now restaurant owner) and a business developer from the tech industry.

— We felt the bicycle industry was missing an urban brand that offered something different, a bicycle that is just as beautiful to look at as it’s fun to ride. We started out as service online where you could design your own bike and we’ve grown into a brand focusing on well-crafted bicycles for urban commuting. Our goal is always to create a bike that is fun to ride and gives you that effortless feeling, says Co-founders Anders Dahlberg and Jakob Hultman.

More and more people will continue to choose the bike for their daily commute. And they’re ready to pay for it.

— We’ve seen a trend for a long time that people spend more money on their bike and related accessories. We believe this will continue especially since the E-bike has established its strong place in the market. Additionally, there is always the health factor, which tends to be ever so important in people’s lives today, and what better way to stay in shape than making the bicycle your primary way of transport? More and more people will go down the bike lane for sure.

How have your first 10 years been?

— Very exciting and it’s been a combination of ups and downs as it should be, the duo says. We’ve been quite restrictive in our expansion however focused our efforts to putting products on the market that we’re extremely proud of and looking after our brand. We’re now in a great position to take the next step in our journey.

That means expanding to several European markets, where the brand has seen organic growth in especially Germany, Holland, and France in the last years.

— We’re now putting efforts in local activities to establish our brand in these countries, says Dahlberg and Hultman. We’re opening a shop in shop in Berlin, selling our bikes on beastybikes online platform in France, Belgium, and Holland as well as their stores in Paris and Meppel. We have a few more online platforms and stores that will carry BIKEID bikes in the near future. This year we’re also launching our largest bicycle range to date as well as our own bicycle accessories such as fingerprint lock. We’re also currently working on our first ever project that’s not bicycles which we’re very excited about. We can’t reveal all details yet but it’s a bicycle apparel project that takes inspiration from our ”May your feet never touch the ground” objective.
