A new take on a classic – available for two days only

A new take on a classic – available for two days only

To celebrate designer Hans J. Wegner's 104th birthday April 2, Carl Hansen & Son manufactures his classic Y-Chair in a new edition. The special release is named Ancient Oak, referring to the extremely preserved and quite rare 1000-years-old bits of oak, occasionally to be found in peat mosses. Its characteristic design through the contact with iron salts in the moss has been recreated with modern processing and colouring technique.

– The result is a refined expression with a deep and warm colour and a vigorousness that matches the Y-chair's elegance. Ancient Oak completes Wegner's organic design, highlighting his innovation vision, says Carl Hansen & Son's CEO Knud Erik Hansen.

*The Y-chair Ancient Oak is available only at April 2 and April 3 in Carl Hansen & Son's flagship stores and authorized retailers, more on *

The ex-criminal's design lifted from the hood to high fashion

Founded in 2014 by the former criminal Reza Etamadi, Copenhagen-based streetwear MUF10 originally made clothes for his friends in the ghetto. Their latest Instagram post features Kendrick Lamar wearing it during his Euroepan tour, as the brand has lifted from the hood to high fashion. Also, for this season it is stored at strong international retailers such as ANTONIA in Milan and Macao, Harvey Nichols in Shanghai, and Birger Christensen in Copenhagen. Tomorrow they visit one of Denmark's leading ones, multibrand store Stoy in the city of Aarhus, for a one-day pop-up, joining the likes of Astrid Andersen, Off-White, Acne Studios, AMI, and others in the carefully selected range.
