Andreas Larsson, Creative Manager, Berg&Berg

Best business dinner?

— La Giostra (1) is a great place to combine business and pleasure which Pitti is all about. Great Florentine food, wine, and a cosy atmosphere.

Best place for a cocktail?

— Paszkowski (2), right next to Gilli but with better music (mostly live jazz), also better and cheaper drinks. And most important, less crowded.

Best place for an espresso?

— Usually, I pass by Caffè Rosanò (3) on my way to the fair. Nothing but great coffee and friendly staff.

Best hotel?

— Hopefully, it’s Hotel Principe (4) since that’s where I’m staying this year.

Best menswear shop?

— Not really a menswear shop, but since I’m into vintage watches, I like to swing by Senzatempo (5). Hopefully, I won’t find anything I like too much.

Best shopping for significant other?

— My first stop is always Eataly (6) to get some burrata and Chianti.

Been visiting Pitti Uomo since?

— Since 2016. Honestly, enjoying the winter editions more since 40 degrees Celsius and having skin type 1 isn’t the best combination.

What’s new with Berg&Berg 2018?

— A lot of great stuff is happening, a range of great products have been launched along with the rollout of our new site which all marks the start of Berg&Berg 2.0.

Mats Klingberg, Founder, Trunk Clothiers Best business dinner?

— Buca Lapi (7) Great atmosphere, great food and great service. The Fiorentina steak is a must, but I usually opt to share it rather than having one to myself, which I regularly see other diners do.

Best place for a cocktail?

— Harry’s Bar (8) is the go-to place for a good Negroni or Aperol Spritz. Very charming and old school, and right on the Arno river not far from Ponte Vecchio.

Best place for an espresso?

— La Ménagère Restaurant (9), bistrot, bar, flowers, shop and music all in a very beautiful and well-curated space.

Best hotel?

— The Savoy (10)… part of the Rocco Forte hotel group and right in the middle of the city on Piazza della Repubblica, close to the Duomo.

Best menswear shop?

— Liverano & Liverano (11) is a bit of an institution amongst fans of Florentine tailoring and visitors to Pitti Uomo.

Best shopping for significant other?

— Santa Maria Novella (12) Always nice to bring something back that is part of local history, so I can’t think of a better place than Santa Maria Novella. They definitely have something for everyone.

Been visiting Pitti Uomo since?

— 2010 for AW10, which is the season I opened Trunk.

What’s new with Trunk 2018?

— Lots going on at the moment. Just opened our first shop outside London in Zurich, so that’s taken quite a bit of my time and so has the ongoing work with our own label development. As well as shop-in-shop partnerships with Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.

Lalle Johnson, Stylist and Designer

Best business dinner?

— 13 Gobbi (13)… it’s one of the best trattorias in town, and it’s cosy.

Best place for a cocktail?

— The Excelsior rooftop bar (14) at the Westin Hotel… it’s the best view in town!

Best place for an espresso?

— This is Florence… anywhere.

Best hotel?

— The Porta Rossa (15) simply fantastic rooms.

Best menswear shop?

— Frasi Simone Righi (16) it’s an institution not to be missed.

Best shopping for significant other?

— Céline (17)

Been visiting Pitti Uomo since?

— Since 1999, back in those days, the square was empty.

What’s new with Trunk 2018?

— I’m working on an app for China that includes MTM/Be-spoke and guiding guys within menswear. Also, an Italian project with an old friend.

Masculinity is?

— Not trying too hard and a firm handshake.

Alessandro Agazzi, Founder, Thestyleism.com

Best business dinner?

— I’ve had quite a few good ones, especially in Florence. I’m always very jealous in sharing my favourite two restaurants in Florence, especially during Pitti. They are great, not the usual Pitti crowd and I’m happy to keep it confidential, a bit like a secret for the friends I go there with.

Best place for a cocktail?

— Has to be The Four Seasons hotel (18).

Best place for an espresso?

— Gilli (19), around 7.30 am, when few people are around and you can read a newspaper without too much noise around.

Best Hotel?

— The Four Seasons (18), without any doubt.

Best menswear shop?

— Eredi Chiarini (20). I thought it was a bit sad to see them moving at first, but they ended up making the store as nice as it was in their previous location.

Been visiting Pitti Uomo since?

— It will be my ninth year now.

What’s new with your brands during Pitti?

— I’ll be in Florence because I will showcase a couple of brands I’m currently working with. CQP is coming back for the second time, for a by-appointment happening. The loft we’re renting is great and people are happy to have a glass of wine with us after a busy day inside the Fortezza. De Petrillo is also showing during Pitti, same building as CQP but with a specific environment. And, if I have some time left, I’ll try to meet some people for the ‘Conversations’ area of my blog @thestyleism.

What does masculinity mean to you?

— I feel men should try to wear what they feel and how they feel, mixing garments that they like and that make them feel OK. Play with colours or volumes if that is something that makes them happy. Surely not to copy someone else because ‘that trend is now popular’.

Cristopher Bastin, Creative Director, NN07

Best business dinner?

— Antico Noè (21). A hidden gem close to the Duomo. Massimo who runs this place has been doing slow food for 30 years. It’s very unbusiness, but who wants a stiff place anyway?

Best place for a cocktail?

— Caffè Gilli (19) at Piazza Della Republica. The vibe, the bellinis and the tortellini with guanciale.

Best place for an espresso?

— It has to be Caffè Gilli again.

Best hotel?

— La Residenza del proconsolo (22). There is no sign, no reception, just rooms that are amazing. Especially for being in Italy. Book the Leonardo or Brunelleschi room.

Best menswear shop?

— Eredi Chiarini (20). Old school, elegant and curated the way only Italians do it. And they carry perfumes from Czech & Speake.

Best shopping for significant other?

— Santa Maria Novella (12). The world’s oldest running pharmacy. Worth a visit for the store alone.

Been visiting Pitti Uomo since?

— Since 1999, off and on.

What’s new with NN07 2018?

— Among many other things, we’re launching a couple of technical Gore-Tex outerwear pieces that are the perfect blend of function and good looks. I’m focusing on AW2019 where my contribution will be a lot more visible.
