As an alarming 450 million people currently suffer from mental illness, tonight’s Avicii Tribute Concert in Stockholm aims to support organizations doing anything about it
The event sold out in 30 minutes and the line-up includes David Guetta, Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike, Rita Ora, Kygo, Sandro Cavazza, Adam Lambert, Nicky Romero, Aloe Blacc and others.
The Avicii Tribute Concert is gathering some of the world’s biggest artists in loving memory of Tim to drive awareness and donations to the Tim Bergling foundation's work for mental health. It will be a concert that involves a lot of the people who Tim worked with through his career together with a 30-piece band, creating a show to honor his legacy.
— All net profits from the Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness will go to supporting organisations that address mental health needs and suicide prevention. The Tim Bergling Foundation was created by Klas Bergling, Anki Liden and their family after the death of their son. The foundation will advocate for the recognition of suicide as a global health emergency and promote removing the stigma attached to the discussion of mental health issues, says Anders Andréen, CEO at Urbanista.
The Swedish audio brand is the headline sponsor of tonight’s event as part of a long term collaboration with the Tim Bergling foundation.
— Mental health awareness is a truly important topic to us as our community is living in a faster spinning world with new type of pressure and challenges. Up to one million people take their own lives every year and it is the most common cause of death for young adults aged 16-29. We believe that we can use our platform to drive both donations and awareness that brings light on this growing problem, says Andréen, continuing,
— We’ve recently done campaigns where 10% of purchases online goes to the foundation. The concert will of course be the peak of the work we’re doing as all eyes are aiming on Stockholm these days. But we’ll also continue with other activities and events to bring this topic to open discussions and hopefully get more companies and personalities to engage.
